Import Plausible Analytics history: CSV, API and validation
When moving from Plausible, decide which daily totals matter and confirm the destination tool accepts the export format. Historical imports can help preserve context, but they may not include every report or behave like live event data.
What the query can—and cannot—measure
Export the relevant CSV files or use a supported one-time API import if the destination offers one. Review date coverage, page paths, source labels and country values. Never share an API key in a public document, and revoke it if it was exposed.
A practical way to do it
Compare imported and source totals for a small sample of dates before relying on the full range. Keep import dates marked so later dashboards distinguish imported from directly collected activity.
A useful checklist
- Export a narrow test date range first.
- Inspect mappings, dates and row estimates.
- Keep keys private and retain original exports.
Limits to keep in mind
Imported aggregates do not recreate session-level journeys; metric definitions and timezones may differ.
Questions
Can I import every Plausible report?
Only the dimensions supported by the destination import.
Should I compare totals exactly?
