A practical product comparison
Looking for a Google Analytics alternative?
The right alternative depends on what you use GA4 for. If you need cross-platform measurement, deep explorations or Google Ads integrations, GA4 has a broader toolkit. If you mainly want clear website traffic reports with a privacy-first collection model and straightforward GBP pricing, quietstats is one option to compare.
When quietstats may fit
quietstats is designed for website owners who want the familiar traffic basics without configuring a large analytics suite: visitors, pageviews, visits, sources, UTM campaigns, pages, countries, devices, goals and alerts in a visual dashboard.
- No analytics cookies or browser storage; raw IP addresses and user agents are not stored.
- The tracker is under 1 KB; the free plan covers one site and 5,000 pageviews a month, with paid plans in GBP.
- Includes AI referral reporting, campaign tracking, goals, alerts, CSV/Excel export and a read-only Stats API.
When Google Analytics 4 may fit
GA4 may be a better fit when your reporting depends on app-and-web journeys, the Google marketing stack, custom explorations, or the wider event model. Google describes Analytics as a free measurement product with integrations across its advertising and publisher tools.
- You can keep Google Ads and Search Console integrations in the same ecosystem.
- GA4 has deeper event and exploration capabilities; the simpler product is not automatically the better one.
- Google Analytics uses first-party cookies by default; its consent settings and your site’s other tools affect the actual setup.
The trade-off to understand
quietstats is not a drop-in replacement for every GA4 workflow. It does not provide advertising attribution integrations, app analytics, session replay, or ecommerce revenue reporting. Its visitor counts use a daily rotating hash, so people cannot be followed across days.
Moving from Google Analytics 4
You can import a GA4 CSV export into quietstats after previewing it. Imports preserve daily aggregates (such as page, source, country and device totals), not individual events or session-level history. Keep your original GA4 exports if you need that detail.
Questions to ask
Can quietstats replace GA4 for every report?
No. It covers common website traffic and campaign questions, but it does not reproduce GA4’s app measurement, advertising integrations, custom explorations or event-level export to BigQuery.
Can I import my GA4 history?
Yes, using a CSV export. quietstats previews the rows and imports daily aggregate totals only; it does not recreate individual sessions.
Does a cookie-free tool automatically remove every consent obligation?
No. Your other scripts and your use of analytics matter. The UK ICO’s statistical-purposes exception has conditions; this is not legal advice.
