Compare two date ranges
Put this month next to last month, this week next to the same week last year, or any two ranges you choose.

What it does
A compare bar on the dashboard with three modes: the previous period, the same dates last year, or a custom range. The headline cards show the change, the chart overlays the other range, and a side-by-side card lists top pages and sources for both ranges with the difference.
Why it matters
Seasonal sites can’t judge December against November. Year-on-year and custom ranges show whether a change is real or just the time of year.
How to use it
- Under Compare with, choose Previous period, Same dates last year or Custom range….
- Press Compare. Every headline number shows ▲/▼ against that range.
- Read the side-by-side card for top pages and sources in each range.

How it works
- Choose “Previous period”, “Same dates last year” or “Custom” and pick the dates.
- Headline numbers show ▲/▼ against the range you picked, labelled “vs last year” and so on.
- The side-by-side card ranks the top pages and sources in each range.
- Works with segments too, so you can compare mobile visitors from Google this year and last.
Privacy
- Collected: Nothing new: it reads the pageviews you already have
- No cookies, and nothing stored on the visitor’s device.
- Reports show totals only: never a visitor list, IP address or single visit.
Limits
- Each range up to 400 days
- Rows: 0 per pageview (reads only)
- Also in the Stats API: compare=previous, year or custom
Plans
Every plan, including Free. quietstats is free during launch: the Free plan covers 1 site and 5,000 pageviews a month, and no card is needed. See pricing.
Questions
What if I have no data for last year?
The comparison shows zero for that range rather than guessing. Imported history from Plausible or GA4 counts if you have imported it.
Is it in the API?
Yes. /api/v1/aggregate accepts compare=previous, compare=year, or compare=custom with compare_from and compare_to.
