What it does

A Forms card on your dashboard: every form with its starts, sends and completion rate, the field where most people gave up, and for your leakiest forms a bar for each field people left on.

Why it matters

Sign-up, checkout and contact forms are where visitors turn into customers, and where many quietly leave. Knowing that 14 people gave up at the card number field tells you exactly what to fix.

How to use it

  1. Open your dashboard, find Forms and open How to set it up.
  2. Copy the forms.js line (your site ID is filled in) and paste it next to your quietstats tag. Optionally name each form with data-qs-form="Checkout".
  3. Read starts, sends and completion for each form, then Where people gave up to see which field to fix first. Add an event goal for Form sent to use it in funnels.
HTML
<script data-host="https://quietstats.co.uk" data-site="YOUR_SITE_ID" data-dnt="true" src="https://quietstats.co.uk/js/forms.js" async defer></script>

Replace YOUR_SITE_ID with the ID shown on your site’s Manage page.

How it works

How form drop-off is counted1. The optional forms.js add-on watches forms on the page. It never reads what anyone types. 2. First move into a field of a form: Form started, with the form’s name (data-qs-form, id, name or where it sends). 3. The form is submitted: Form sent. (otherwise: Typed values: never read) 4. They leave the page after starting but without sending: Form abandoned, with the last field’s name. 5. Each counts once per form per page view and is stored as a daily event with the page. 6. The Forms card shows starts, sends, completion and the field where most people gave up.1The optional forms.js add-onwatches forms on the page. Questions

Can I use form sends as a goal?

Yes. Add an event goal for “Form sent” to count conversions and use it in funnels.

What about password fields?

Only the field’s name (for example “password”) can ever be recorded, as the last field someone was in. What they typed is never read.

Does it work with forms that send without reloading?

Yes. Starts and sends are counted the same way, and single-page app navigation counts as leaving the page.
