On-site search terms
What people type into your own site’s search box, from the search page address.

What it does
A card listing search terms with searches and visitors, once you tell quietstats which URL parameter your search uses (for example q or s).
Why it matters
Search terms are your readers telling you, in their own words, what they expected to find.
How to use it
- Find On-site search on your dashboard.
- Enter the URL parameter(s) your site search uses, such as q or s, and save.
- New searches appear from then on; terms that look like personal data are dropped.
How it works
- Off by default. In the site’s settings, list the parameter names your search uses, such as q,s.
- Terms are lower-cased, trimmed and cut to 60 characters.
- A term that looks like an email address, phone number or card number is dropped; the pageview is still counted.
Privacy
- Collected: The search term from the parameter you name
- Not collected: Terms that look like an email address, phone or card number
- Not collected: Any other query parameter
- No cookies, and nothing stored on the visitor’s device.
- Reports show totals only: never a visitor list, IP address or single visit.
Limits
- Up to 5 parameter names
- Rows: 0 extra per pageview (stored in the pageview row); 1 to change the setting
Plans
Every plan, including Free. quietstats is free during launch: the Free plan covers 1 site and 5,000 pageviews a month, and no card is needed. See pricing.
Questions
What if my search uses a path like /search/term?
This first version reads query parameters only. Search pages with the term in the path are not picked up.
