Trending now: what is taking off this hour
Pages and sources getting far more visitors in the last hour than they normally do, right on the Live view.
In every plan, including Free. See your traffic.

What it is
A Trending now card on your Live view: each page or source with far more visitors in the last 60 minutes than it usually gets at this hour, with how many and what is normal.
Why it matters
When a post is shared on Reddit or a newsletter goes out, the first hour is when you can reply, pin it or add a call to action. Trending now tells you while it is still happening.
How it works
- When you open the Live view, quietstats counts visitors per page and per referring site in the last 60 minutes.
- It counts the same 60-minute window on each of the previous 14 days. The usual is the middle value (days with none count as 0).
- Anything with at least 3 visitors and 3 times its usual is listed, biggest jump first, up to 5.
- Direct visits are left out, because they have no single source to act on.
Set it up
Nothing to set up: it works with the standard one-line script.
<script data-host="https://quietstats.co.uk" data-dnt="true" src="https://quietstats.co.uk/js/script.js" id="YOUR_SITE_ID" async defer></script>Privacy: what is and isn’t collected
Collected
- Nothing new: it reads the pageviews you already have
- Only totals per page and source, never a visitor
Never collected
- Cookies, localStorage or anything else stored on the visitor’s device
- IP addresses or user agents (used in memory, then discarded)
- Anything that links a visitor across days (the visitor ID resets daily)
Rows and limits
- 0 script bytes, 0 rows written
- Checked when the Live page loads, not on the 10-second refresh
- New sites need a few days of history before “usual” means much
- Rows: 1 read of the last 15 days’ pageviews in that hour window per Live page load
“Rows” are database rows written, which is what our hosting is billed on. Reads are not rows written. Methodology →
Questions
Why is a page I just published trending?
A new page usually had no visitors at this hour before, so 3 or more visitors already counts as a jump. That is often exactly what you want to know.
Does it alert me?
Not yet. It shows on the Live view. Spike and drop alerts cover whole-day changes.
Does it count bots?
No. Known bots are dropped by the collector before anything is counted.
