Live visitors and live events

What it is

A pulsing counter of unique visitors in the last 5 minutes, a live world map, and a feed of sign-ups, clicks, downloads and other custom events from the last 30 minutes. Night mode turns the live map into a calm full-screen view for a wall screen or TV.

Why it matters

Launch day, a newsletter going out or a post taking off on Reddit: the live view tells you in seconds whether it is working, without waiting for tomorrow’s numbers.

How it works

1. The counter refreshes every 30 seconds while the dashboard is open.
2. A visitor counts as “now” if one of their pageviews arrived in the last 5 minutes.
3. The events feed lists event names and properties only. No visitor IDs are shown.
4. Night mode dims the map and asks the browser to keep the screen awake where it allows it.

Set it up

Nothing to set up: it works with the standard one-line script.

<script data-host="https://quietstats.co.uk" data-dnt="true" src="https://quietstats.co.uk/js/script.js" id="YOUR_SITE_ID" async defer></script>

Privacy: what is and isn’t collected

Collected

• The pageviews and custom events you already collect, nothing extra

Never collected

• Cookies, localStorage or anything else stored on the visitor’s device
• IP addresses or user agents (used in memory, then discarded)
• Anything that links a visitor across days (the visitor ID resets daily)

Rows and limits

• Live window: last 5 minutes for visitors, last 30 minutes for events
• Rows: 0 extra per pageview (the live view only reads)

“Rows” are database rows written, which is what our hosting is billed on. Reads are not rows written. Methodology →
