What it does

A card under Goals: pick a goal and see the pages read before it in converting visits, what share of conversions read each one, and how often visits that include the page convert compared with your average visit.

Why it matters

Last-click reports credit the checkout or contact page. The pages that persuade people, like a guide, a menu or an about page, get no credit, so they are easy to cut or neglect.

How to use it

  1. Set up at least one goal. The Pages that help conversions card appears under Goals and starts with the goal that has most conversions; tap another goal name to switch.
  2. Read Conversions: how many converting visits read the page before the goal, and their share of all conversions.
  3. Read vs avg.: above 1× means visits that include the page convert more often than your average visit. Treat it as a pointer to test, not proof.

How it works

How pages that help conversions are counted1. Pageviews you already have are split into visits: same visitor-day, a new visit after 30 minutes of quiet. 2. For the chosen goal, find each visitor-day’s first conversion and the visit it happened in. 3. Pages read earlier in that visit get one count each (a page goal never counts itself). (otherwise: Worked out on view; nothing stored) 4. Per page: converting visits that read it, their share of all conversions, and visit conversion rate vs your average. 5. The card lists the top 12 pages; “vs avg.” needs 10+ visits.1Pageviews you already have aresplit into visits: samevisitor-day, a new visit after30 minutes of quiet.2For the chosen goal, find eachvisitor-day’s first conversionand the visit it happened in.3Pages read earlier in thatvisit get one count each (apage goal never countsitself).Worked out onview; nothingstored4Per page: converting visitsthat read it, their share ofall conversions, and visitconversion rate vs youraverage.5The card lists the top 12pages; “vs avg.” needs 10+visits.

Questions

How is this different from landing page scorecards?

Scorecards grade the first page of a visit. This looks at every page read before the goal, including ones in the middle of a visit.

Does a visit count twice if the person reads a page twice?

No. Each converting visit counts once per page.

What if someone converts in a later visit?

Only pages in the visit where they converted count, so pages from an earlier visit get no credit.
