Sources and channels
Where visitors came from, with recognisable icons, grouped into Direct, Search, AI, Social, Referral, Email and Paid.

What it does
A referrer list with icons and a channel donut. Each referrer is the domain only, never the full referring URL.
Why it matters
Know which places actually send people, so you can do more of what works.
How to use it
- Find Sources on your dashboard. Tabs switch between Referrers, Channels and AI assistants.
- Click a source to filter the dashboard to visits from it.
- Press ↗ to open the referring site.
How it works
- The script sends the referrer; only its domain is stored.
- Domains are grouped into channels by known lists (search engines, social networks, AI assistants), and UTM medium decides Email and Paid.
- No referrer means Direct.
Privacy
- Collected: Referrer domain
- Collected: UTM medium for the channel
- Not collected: The full referring URL or its query string
- No cookies, and nothing stored on the visitor’s device.
- Reports show totals only: never a visitor list, IP address or single visit.
Limits
- Rows: 0 extra per pageview
Plans
Every plan, including Free. quietstats is free during launch: the Free plan covers 1 site and 5,000 pageviews a month, and no card is needed. See pricing.
Questions
Why does Google show as Search even for AI Overviews?
Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode send visitors from google.com, so they look like search traffic to every analytics tool that reads the referrer.
